I absofuckinglutely love this time of year…
The weather is glorious here- except if La Niña decides to come on through- which of course she has #wetgirlsummer.
Christmas is just around the corner, and the southern hemisphere is about to be activated in our Summer Solstice.
I always have tried to take time off at this time of year to reflect and integrate the magic of the year that’s been… and this year, after being self employed since I was 22, I have finally managed to give myself a proper fucking holiday! 6 weeks actually #yum
This year’s Solstice is on December 22nd, in just a few days time. It’s the longest day of the year, the one with the most sunshine and light, the most joy and positivity… we get to celebrate the fruits of our labour!
But what is the Summer Solstice? What’s it all about? For me, the Summer Solstice represents a chance to live in the goddamn present moment, enjoying the abundance of your manifestation and the result of the hard work you’ve put in over the past year. I mean 2021 was fucking wild. Those retrogrades were a god damn doozey lol.
SO, traditionally, the Summer Solstice marked the end of land cultivation – our ancestors would have restocked their homes with food at last, and they’d take the time to rest after doing so.
So what do we do now? Mark the occasion with dazzling parties (fuck off C**d) and feasts, bonfires on the beach (if fire conditions allow for it because I don’t want to hear of Australia burning up because of your bonfire!), BBQs in our gardens, celebrations as the sun gazes directly into our hearts… expanding our capacity to be activated in presence, love & gratitude.
Summer always flies by, so it’s nice to have an excuse to celebrate while Mother Nature is pouring sunshine and light all over everything; it’s the time of year where happiness is in abundance and everything seems a bit less heavy, a bit easier to carry and deal with and love on.
And you deserve to be loved on. You deserve to celebrate, to reflect, to relax.
The Summer Solstice is about remembering to be present in the present. We spend so much of our time sowing the seeds of the future, manifesting our desires, wanting more – as we should. We absolutely fucking should. But we shouldn’t forget to appreciate what we’ve got, what we’ve worked so hard for, what we’ve achieved at this very moment.
If you were intentional about your winter solstice you’ll find that what ever seed was planted, is starting to pay off in spades.
Here’s something you can do to mark the Summer Solstice. It’s best done at sunrise if you can! Get up, get outside – or look out of your window – and light a candle. Look at the sky, and drink in the colours. Depending on the colour palette of the day you’ll see pink, blue, orange, purple. But you’ll always see beauty. Breathe deeply and feel the air in your lungs; allow it to fill your body with clarity. Think about the things you’re most grateful for, whatever they might be – your family, your business, sunflowers, sandy beaches, your favourite songs. Consider the beauty of this moment. Consider the magic that pulses through your veins.
Because you are fucking magic. This little Summer Solstice ritual is a simple but poignant reminder of how badass you are – how much you’ve done, how far you’ve come. How much work you’ve put in, and I know you have. Happy Solstice, bitch.
