Today I want to talk about something I’ve noticed in this space, in this industry, which is so goddamn toxic. It’s absolutely rampant, and it breeds this superiority attitude, this pedestal energy – and my god is it annoying. I am so burnt out by it.
Basically, we seem to have created this thought process that says getting paid in full is better… And okay, there is absolutely nothing wrong with paying in full and getting paid in full. If you do or you have then YES, I am celebrating that for you so fucking hard.
But, and it’s a big but – it doesn’t make you any better than someone who offers payment plans to their clients. It doesn’t make you a better business woman and it doesn’t make your clients more abundant or more worthy of your work and support. If that triggers you then sorry to say it but g o o d. It means you needed to hear what I’m saying here.
Pedalling ‘pay-in-fulls’ as the holy grail is bad from every damn angle. You’re saying to potential clients that they don’t deserve to work with you if they can’t (or simply don’t want to) pay in full – and what sort of message is that? What sort of freaking manipulation is that?! This just isn’t the kind of thing you want to be putting out into the world…
I’ve been there – it’s happened to me. I worked with this super high-end coach who left me with a lot of trauma because we just weren’t a good fit, and a lot of her messaging is around paying in full and getting paid in full as though this somehow makes you a better business owner and a better client respectively.
BUT IT JUST ISN’T TRUE BABY! If you only allow your clients to pay in full then you’re missing out on people who might be your dream client, who might be so damn aligned with you. And for what?! You’re also missing out on the chance to forecast your year, to know there is money coming in and from where. I know that if I do nothing for the next 6 months I still have a minimum of $22k coming in every single month because of payment plans from the programs and containers I offer.
Do you know how juicy and secure that feels?! I’ll tell you what’s sexy… sustainability. A recurring compounding revenue. A regulated nervous system which isn’t constantly trying to find or reestablish a cash flow every single month.
It’s high freaking time we start to destigmatize payment plans. You can join my new 6-week container, Threshold, and learn all about glowing up your biz, falling in love with being a business owner and so much more for just $1111 OR a two-part payment plan (duh!) of two $666 payments. What are you waiting for?!
